hip hip hooray

A major win for anyone who supports basic human rights! The Defense of Marriage Act has been rejected by the Obama administration. In a letter to Congress, Obama (well, Attorney General Eric Holder) made it clear that this administration will no longer oppose legal challenges to DOMA, which in 1996 defined marriage to be between a man and a woman. As this decision is upheld and continues to be applied, eventually any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation will be considered unconstitutional. Big day!
